Optim was formed in Reno, Nevada, during July 1998. Optim was selected by the Nevada Applied Research Initiative (NARI), which was established by the Nevada State Legislature, to reside at the Technology Incubator on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. Our SeisOpt products provide the petroleum and geotechnical industries with an inexpensive, efficient, and accurate means to predict laterally complex velocity structure from seismic data. Clients around the world are now using SeisOpt software products and services to increase the value of their businesses.
Optim’s co-founders, Bill Honjas and Dr. Satish Pullamannappallil, began working with data optimization algorithms as graduate students in geophysics at the University of Nevada, Reno, Seismological Laboratory. SeisOpt combines their early, theoretical work in seismic data optimization with the latest advances in computer science to create commercial applications in the fast-developing field of computational geophysics. Mr. Honjas and Dr. Pullamanappallil have published several peer-reviewed papers during the course of their work.
